Fatigue test of metal parts repaired by laser cladding

Fatigue test of metal parts repaired by laser cladding-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Laser cladding is a new green surface additive technology that replaces traditional surface treatment technology. This technology uses high-energy laser as the heat source and high-performance powder as the coating. The instantaneous high temperature generated by the laser causes the high-performance powder to melt with the surface of the part to be processed, forming a covering layer with ultra-high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, thereby significantly improving the wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance, and oxidation resistance of metal parts, and achieving the purpose of extending the service life of the parts.
Laser cladding can also be used in other industries such as steel metallurgy, automobiles, engineering machinery, mold manufacturing, and ships, and has very broad application prospects. Tensile testing of metal parts repaired by laser cladding can determine their fatigue properties.
Zhongke Inspection Reliability Experiment Center has the mechanical testing capabilities for various laser cladding repaired metal parts, and provides professional fatigue mechanics testing services for laser cladding repaired metal parts.

Scope of tests

laser cladding technology is mainly used in a large number of parts that are prone to wear and fatigue, such as transmission couplings, fork heads, intermediate shafts, transmission gears, universal joints, flat head sleeves, roller shafts, flying shears, roll end sleeves, coiler spring seat boxes, gear shafts, reducer casings, etc.

Test method

1. Clamp the specimens with the same nominal dimensions on the axial force fatigue testing machine, and apply cyclic stress to the specimens. The applied force shall be along the longitudinal axis of the specimen and pass through the center of each cross-section of the specimen. The test continues until specimen failure or until a predetermined number of stress cycles has been exceeded.
2. Unless otherwise specified, fatigue tests are generally conducted at room temperature within the range of 10°C ~ 35°C. For fatigue tests with specified test temperatures, the sample temperature should be conducted within the specified temperature range of ±5°C.
