Metal material pipe crimping test

Metal material pipe crimping test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Metal material pipe curling test can measure the plastic deformation ability of circular cross-section metal pipes. It is suitable for metal pipes with an outer diameter not exceeding 150 mm and a wall thickness not exceeding 10 mm.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability performance testing of various metal materials and provides professional pipe crimping testing services for metal materials.

Scope of tests

Metal material tubes can be classified according to material classification:
Ordinary carbon pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, bearing steel pipes, weather-resistant steel pipes, corrosion-resistant steel pipes and various non-ferrous metal pipes.

Test method

1. Form a crimp on the end of the metal pipe sample on a plane perpendicular to the axis of the pipe until the outer diameter after crimping reaches the value specified in the relevant product standards.
2. The test should generally be conducted within the room temperature range of 10 ℃ ~ 35 ℃. For tests required to be conducted under controlled conditions, the test temperature should be 23°C ± 5°C.
3. The explanation of the hemming test results should be based on the requirements of relevant product standards. When there is no provision in the relevant product standards, if there are no visually visible cracks without using a magnifying glass, it shall be assessed as qualified. Microcracks only appearing at the edges and corners of the specimen shall not be rejected.

Test standard:

GB/T 245-2016 Metal Materials Pipes Crimping Test Method
ISO 8494-2013 Metallic materials pipes Crimping test method
