Optical cable wear performance test

Optical cable wear performance test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

The optical cable wear performance test can measure the wear resistance of the optical cable sheath and the wear resistance of the optical cable mark. These test data can be used to test and improve the production process of the optical cable factory, and provide necessary parameters for the design of optical communication systems.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the mechanical properties of various optical cables and provides professional wear performance testing services for optical cables.

Scope of tests

1. According to different transmission performance, distance and purpose, optical cables can be divided into user optical cables, local optical cables, long-distance optical cables and submarine optical cables.
2. According to the different conditions of transmission conductors and media, optical cables can be divided into metal-free optical cables, ordinary optical cables, and comprehensive optical cables (mainly used for railway dedicated network communication lines).
3. According to different laying methods, optical cables can be divided into pipeline optical cables, direct buried optical cables, aerial optical cables and underwater optical cables.
4. According to different structural methods, optical cables can be divided into flat structure optical cables, layered optical cables, skeleton optical cables, armored optical cables and high-density user optical cables.

Test method

1. Optical cable sheath wear resistance test:
1) Fasten the sample with a length of approximately 750 mm to the support plate using an optical cable clamp. Then, the friction edge should be loaded with a heavy object to generate the force stated in the detailed specifications on the optical cable, while avoiding collision with the optical cable.
2) Unless otherwise specified in the detailed specification, carry out 4 tests on each specimen, moving the specimen forward 100 mm and always rotating 90° in the same direction before the next test.
2. Optical cable mark wear resistance test:
1) Suitable for hard marks: Use an optical cable clamp to fasten the sample with a length of about 750 mm on the support plate, so that the sample mark is directly under the rubbing edge for testing. Then, the friction edge should be loaded with a heavy object to generate the force specified in the detailed specifications on the optical cable, while avoiding collision with the optical cable. Then, perform the number of friction cycles specified in the detailed specifications.
2) Applicable to non-rigid marks: The marked optical cable sample should be placed between two pieces of wool felt soaked in water. The nominal force (F) specified in the detailed specification shall then be applied to the specimen mark, which is moved back and forth over 100 mm, and the number of rubbing cycles specified in the detailed specification shall be applied.
