Test Background
The tensile performance test of optical cables can provide improvement directions for the production process and ensure that the tensile resistance of optical cables meets standard requirements. The optical cable tensile performance test can determine the tensile properties of the optical cable within the specified tensile load (usually the load allowed during installation), that is, the attenuation change of the optical fiber in the optical cable, the optical fiber strain and/or the functional relationship between the strain of the optical cable and the tensile load.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the mechanical properties of various optical cables and provides professional tensile performance testing services for optical cables.
Scope of tests
1. According to different transmission performance, distance and purpose, optical cables can be divided into user optical cables, local optical cables, long-distance optical cables and submarine optical cables.
2. According to the different conditions of transmission conductors and media, optical cables can be divided into metal-free optical cables, ordinary optical cables, and comprehensive optical cables (mainly used for railway dedicated network communication lines).
3. According to different laying methods, optical cables can be divided into pipeline optical cables, direct buried optical cables, aerial optical cables and underwater optical cables.
4. According to different structural methods, optical cables can be divided into flat structure optical cables, layered optical cables, skeleton optical cables, armored optical cables and high-density user optical cables.
Test method
Depending on the items being monitored, this method is divided into:
a) Method E1A is a method for determining fiber attenuation changes;
b) Method E1B is a method for determining the elongation strain of optical fibers and elongation strains of optical cables. It can provide information on the maximum allowable pulling force and the strain limit of the optical cable during installation.
Method E1A or Method E1B can be used alone, or both methods can be used in combination to measure different tensile properties of optical cables in accordance with detailed specifications or agreement between the user and the manufacturer.
