Test Background

As a steel wire rope for elevators, the traction rope is an important component in the elevator. It is a special steel wire rope that connects the car and the counterweight device, and relies on the traction machine to drive the car to lift the car. It carries the total weight of the car, counterweight device, rated load, etc. Its importance can be imagined. The bending fatigue test of elevator wire ropes can determine the bending fatigue life of elevator traction wire ropes.

Scope of tests

In the domestic market, there are mainly the following types of steel wire ropes for elevators:
Phosphate coated steel wire rope, galvanized steel wire rope, stainless steel wire rope, plastic coated steel wire rope, smooth steel wire rope.

Test method

The steel wire rope sample simulates the actual operating conditions of the elevator and goes around the test wheel (traction wheel) at a certain angle, and applies tension to it, and bends repeatedly at a certain frequency to evaluate the performance of the steel wire rope withstanding bending fatigue.
