Test Background
The torsion test is to test the plastic deformation ability of steel when torsion in fixed or alternating directions. It can show the unevenness of metal deformation, surface defects and internal defects. In the steel wire products industry, torsion performance has become a very important mechanical performance index. The torsion test of steel wires and steel wire products can determine their torsional properties.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various steel wires and steel wire products, and provides professional torsion testing services for steel wires and steel wire products.
Scope of tests
is suitable for cold-worked steel wires, annealed steel wires, quenched and tempered steel wires and coated steel wires with constant cross-section (circular or special-shaped).
Test method
1. One-way torsion test
The one-way torsion test shall be performed in accordance with GB/T239.1. If the first test is invalid, the test should be repeated at the low torsion speed specified in GB/T 239.1. Fracture types include: normal torsional fracture, local crack fracture or irregular fracture, spiral crack fracture, cracks visible to the naked eye, etc.
2. Two-way torsion test
The two-way torsion test shall be performed in accordance with GB/T 239.2. This test is used to detect surface defects in steel wires and can also be used to evaluate ductility.
