Test Background

Insulating glass is a high-efficiency sound-insulating and heat-insulating glass made of two (or three) pieces of glass, using a high-strength and high-airtight composite adhesive to bond the glass pieces to an aluminum alloy frame containing a desiccant. The insulating glass tensile test can measure the thermal insulation performance of insulating glass, and is suitable for single-cavity insulating glass, multi-cavity insulating glass, and vacuum composite insulating glass for construction.

Scope of tests

4 categories of insulating glass:
1. Float insulating glass
2. Tempered insulating glass
3. Coated insulating glass
4. LOW-E insulating glass

Test method

1. Determine the insulating glass structure. The structure of insulating glass is characterized by the thickness and type of a single piece of glass or material, the film grade of the coated glass, the location of the film surface, the thickness of the spacer layer, the type of spacer layer, etc.
2. Detect and calculate the visible light transmittance and outdoor visible light reflectance of the insulating glass according to the prescribed methods. The two parameters should meet the requirements of the evaluation conditions.
3. Detect and calculate the light-to-heat ratio of insulating glass and the total transmittance of solar infrared heat energy according to the prescribed methods.
4. Calculate the heat transfer coefficient of the central part of the insulating glass according to the prescribed method.
5. Light-to-heat ratio, heat transfer coefficient is expressed in decimals, rounded to 1 decimal place, total solar infrared thermal energy transmittance is expressed in decimals, rounded to 2 decimal places.
6. According to the evaluation parameters, the thermal insulation performance of insulating glass is evaluated in a graded manner.
