Vickers hardness test of ultra-thin glass

Vickers hardness test of ultra-thin glass-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

The standard hardness of glass Vickers hardness is measured by pressing the glass. The higher the value, the harder it is. It is rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the softest. The Vickers hardness test of ultra-thin glass can use the Vickers indentation method with a loading force of 1.961 N~49.03 N to measure the hardness and fracture toughness of ultra-thin glass.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has reliability testing capabilities for various glasses and provides professional Vickers hardness testing services for ultra-thin glass.

Scope of tests

1. According to the production process method, there are float ultra-thin glass, grid (flat drawing) ultra-thin glass, and down-draw ultra-thin glass.
2. According to different chemical compositions, ultra-thin glass can be divided into alkali-containing ultra-thin glass and alkali-free ultra-thin glass.

Test method

1. Press a square cone-shaped diamond indenter with an included angle of 136° into the sample surface at a given test pressure and maintain it for a specified time. After removing the test force, use a microscope to measure the length of the two diagonal lines of the indentation and the diagonal crack expansion length of the indentation.
2. Calculate the hardness and fracture toughness of the sample surface according to the given calculation formula.

Test standard:

GB/T 37900-2019 Test method for hardness and fracture toughness of ultra-thin glass Small load Vickers hardness indentation method
GB/T 4340.2 Metallic materials Vickers hardness test Part 2: Inspection and calibration of hardness tester
GB/T 16534 Test method for hardness of fine ceramics at room temperature
