Ultra-thin glass bending test

Ultra-thin glass bending test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Generally, glass with a thickness of 0.1~1.1mm is called ultra-thin glass. LCD displays in the electronic information industry generally use 0.55-1.1mm float ultra-thin glass. The ultra-thin glass bending test can use the three-point bending method to test the bending properties of thin and ultra-thin glass, including bending strength, failure deflection, bending load-deflection curve, critical curvature radius and other indicators.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has reliability testing capabilities for various types of glass and provides professional bending testing services for ultra-thin glass.

Scope of tests

1. According to the production process method, there are float ultra-thin glass, grid (flat drawing) ultra-thin glass, and down-draw ultra-thin glass.
2. According to different chemical compositions, ultra-thin glass can be divided into alkali-containing ultra-thin glass and alkali-free ultra-thin glass.

Test method

1. Conventional three-point bending method
1) Use a vernier caliper or micrometer to measure the thickness of the thin glass to an accuracy of 0.01 mm or higher.
2) Adjust the lower span of the support according to the specified value, and center the specimen on the support base.
3) Apply load to the sample until the glass sample is damaged, and the loading rate is as specified.
4) Record the failure load at fracture.
2. Combined beam three-point bending method: Bond the ultra-thin glass sample and its matrix beam of equal length and width to form a combined beam.
The ultra-thin glass surface is used as the tensile surface of the three-point bending sample. The composite beam is loaded at a constant loading rate to break the ultra-thin glass, and the load value at the moment of fracture is recorded. According to the given calculation formula, the bending strength of the ultra-thin glass is obtained.
