Test Background
The wide strip tensile test of geosynthetic materials can use wide strip specimens to determine the tensile properties of geosynthetic materials (polymer, glass fiber and metal), including the determination of strength and elongation characteristics, as well as the calculation of secant modulus, maximum load per unit width and elongation at maximum strength.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various geosynthetic materials and provides professional wide strip tensile testing services for geosynthetic materials.
Scope of tests
1. Applicable to most geosynthetic materials, including woven geotextiles, nonwoven geotextiles, knitted geotextiles, geocomposites, geonets, geonet mats and metal fiber products.
2. Suitable for geogrids and geotextiles with similar mesh structures, but the sample size may need to be adjusted.
3. It is not suitable for polymer or asphalt anti-seepage geomembranes, but is suitable for clay anti-seepage geomembranes.
Test method
1. Clamp the entire width of the specimen in the clamp or jaws of the tensile testing machine, and the testing machine applies load along the length of the specimen at a constant displacement rate until the specimen breaks.
2. The tensile properties of the sample are recorded and calculated by the recording device of the testing machine. Except for products with low elongation (such as less than or equal to 5%), select an appropriate stretching rate so that the elongation rate is (20±5)%/min of the gauge length.
3. For products with low elongation, such as glass fiber products, reduce the test speed so that the sample breaks within (30±5) s.
