Test Background
Wood impact toughness is the ability of wood to absorb energy and resist repeated impact loads or brief stresses that exceed proportional limits. The toughness value is determined according to the standard impact test method. A pendulum impact testing machine is used to impact the wood bending specimen, and it is expressed by the energy absorbed per unit area when breaking.
Wood impact toughness test can use a pendulum impact testing machine to measure the impact toughness of small, flawless wood samples. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has reliability testing capabilities for various types of wood and provides professional impact toughness testing services for wood and wood-based products.
Scope of tests
Wood can be divided into:
according to how it is used
1) Wood restructured materials such as plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, laminated veneer lumber, laminated lumber, restructured wood, oriented strand board, restructured decorative veneer, etc.
2) Wood-based composite materials such as gypsum particleboard, cement particleboard, wood/plastic composite materials, wood/metal composite materials, wood conductive materials and wood ceramics.
Test method
An impact load is applied to the center of the specimen to cause bending failure of the specimen to determine the impact toughness of the wood.
1) Impact toughness is only tested in the chord direction. At the center of the specimen length, measure the height and width (or chordal and radial dimensions) respectively, accurate to 0.1 mm. If necessary, radial testing can be added.
2) Place the sample symmetrically on the support of the testing machine, and make the pendulum of the testing machine impact on the radial surface in the center of the length of the sample. It should break at one time and the energy absorbed by the sample should be accurate to 1J.
3) After the sample test, immediately cut off a wooden block about 20 mm long near the damage point of the sample, and measure the moisture content of the sample according to GB/T 1931.
