Plastic impact test

Plastic impact test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Impact testing is a test used to evaluate the toughness or resistance to fracture of materials under high-speed loading conditions. The impact strength of plastic materials is an important performance indicator in engineering applications. It reflects the ability of different materials to resist damage caused by high-speed impact. For plastic impact testing, a simply supported beam impact testing machine can be used to measure the impact properties of plastics with small samples.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has reliability testing capabilities for various plastics and provides professional impact testing services for plastics and related products.

Scope of tests

Rigid thermoplastics and thermosets, including filled plastics and fiber-reinforced composites.
Thermoset molded sheets, including fillers and reinforcements, thermoset sheets, including laminates, fiber-reinforced thermoset and thermoplastic composites containing unidirectional or non-unidirectional reinforcements such as felt, textile fibers, textile rovings, chopped strand combinations or hybrid reinforcements, twistless rovings and ground fibers, etc.; sheets made of prepreg thermotropic liquid crystal polymers.

Test method

1. Measure the width and thickness of the middle part of the sample to the nearest 0.01 mm. For notched specimens, the remaining thickness at the notch should be measured. During measurement, the thickness should be measured once at both ends of the notch and the arithmetic mean value should be taken.
2. Select the pendulum according to the energy required to destroy the sample, so that the energy consumed is within the range of 10% to 85% of the total energy of the pendulum.
3. Adjust the distance between the support lines to 20 mm.
4. Lift and lock the pendulum, place the sample on the two support blocks, with the sample support surface close to the support blocks, and align the impact blade with the center of the sample. The cutting edge of the notched specimen is aligned with the center of the notch. 5. Release the pendulum smoothly and read the impact energy absorbed by the sample from the dial.
6. The impact value of the sample without damage will not be taken, but the impact value of the sample with complete or partial damage can be taken.
