Test Background

Geotextile as a new building material. The soil buried in the soil and the surrounding soil form a composite system. When deformed under the action of external load and self-weight, friction will occur along the interface. Therefore, the friction characteristics between the geotextile and the sand are an important indicator in engineering applications.
Geotextile shear test can use a direct shear instrument and standard sand to conduct a direct shear test on the geotextile to simulate this action process and evaluate the friction characteristics of the geotextile.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various geotextiles and provides professional shear test services for geotextiles and related products.

Scope of tests

1. Geotextiles can be mainly divided into woven geotextiles and non-woven geotextiles.
2. Geotextiles can also be divided into three series: needle-punched non-woven geotextiles, needle-punched non-woven fabrics and PE film composite geotextiles, and non-woven and woven composite geotextiles.
3. According to the different raw material fibers used, it can be divided into short fiber geotextiles, short fiber needle punched geotextiles, filament woven geotextiles, anti-seepage geotextiles, composite geotextiles, warp knitted composite geotextiles, polypropylene geotextiles, woven geotextiles, singed geotextiles, polyester filament geotextiles, etc.

Test method

Use a direct shear instrument to conduct a direct shear test on the sand/geotextile contact surface to measure the friction characteristics of the sand/geotextile interface.
