Tensile performance test of asphalt waterproofing membrane

Tensile performance test of asphalt waterproofing membrane-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Asphalt waterproofing membrane refers to a rollable sheet material made by dipping base paper, fiber fabric, fiber felt and other matrix materials with asphalt, and spreading powdery, granular or sheet materials on the surface. Traditionally, paper-based petroleum asphalt linoleum is the most commonly used material. The tensile properties test of asphalt waterproofing membranes can determine the tensile properties of asphalt waterproofing membranes.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various construction waterproofing membranes, and provides professional tensile performance testing services for asphalt waterproofing membranes.

Scope of tests

According to different manufacturing methods, it is divided into two types: impregnated membrane (with tires) and rolled membrane (without tires). The former is made by impregnating and coating asphalt with raw paper or glass cloth, fabric and other tire materials, and then sprinkling spreading materials (talcum powder, fine sand, mica powder, etc.) on the surface; the latter is made by mixing asbestos, rubber powder, etc. into asphalt and rolling it.

Test method

The specimen is stretched at a constant speed until fracture. Continuously record the tensile force and corresponding length changes during the test.
1) Clamp the test piece tightly in the clamp of the tensile testing machine. Pay attention to the fact that the center line of the length direction of the test piece is in line with the center of the clamp of the testing machine.
2) The distance between the clamps is (200±2) mm, and markings should be made to prevent the specimen from slipping from the clamps. When using an extensometer, the distance between gauges should be set to (180±2) mm before testing.
3) In order to prevent any relaxation of the specimen, it is recommended to load the specimen with a force not exceeding 5N.
