Test Background
Composite materials are new materials that are made by optimizing the combination of material components with different properties using advanced material preparation technology. The in-plane shear performance test of composite materials can determine the in-plane shear strength, shear modulus and shear stress-strain curve of symmetrically laid fiber-reinforced plastics.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various composite materials and provides professional in-plane shear performance testing services for composite materials.
Scope of tests
Composite materials can be mainly divided into two categories: structural composite materials and functional composite materials.
Composite materials can also be divided into common and advanced categories. Commonly used materials include fiberglass, which is widely used in ships, vehicles, chemical pipelines and storage tanks, building structures, sporting goods, etc.;
Advanced composite materials are mainly used in the defense industry, aerospace, precision machinery, deep submersibles, robot structural parts, and high-end sporting goods.
Test method
A sample with a symmetrical V-shaped notch is clamped on a pair of special clamps. The tensile force of the testing machine generates shear stress in the working area of the sample, which eventually causes the sample to be damaged due to shearing.
Note: The sample with V-shaped notch can effectively improve the uniformity of shear stress in the working area.
