Test Background
Fiber-reinforced plastic punching shear test can measure the fracture shear strength of fiber-reinforced plastic sheets and the shear strength of short fiber-reinforced plastics.

Scope of tests
Commonly used fiber-reinforced plastics include polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE), polyester (PET) and other high-molecular polymers and high-purity natural wood, as well as some man-made fibers (cellulose fibers), glass-reinforced resins and metal fibers.
It can be divided into three categories according to its molding methods: thermoplastic resin, thermosetting resin, and polycarbonate.
Test method
Place the sample in a specific fixture, load it at a constant speed, so that it is sheared and damaged along the thickness direction, and the shear strength is measured.
1) Apply a uniform and continuous load to the sample through the punch until it breaks. Record the failure load.
2) Specimens that have obvious internal defects or are not damaged along the shear plane should be discarded. When there are less than 5 valid samples in the same batch, the test should be repeated.
3) Record the load and failure mode during the test.
