Test Background

Carbon fiber multifilament is used as a reinforcing material to be combined with resin, metal, ceramics and carbon to produce advanced composite materials. Carbon fiber reinforced epoxy resin composite materials have the highest specific strength and specific modulus among existing engineering materials. Carbon fiber's high temperature resistance ranks first among all chemical fibers, and it is an excellent material for manufacturing high-tech equipment such as aerospace and aviation.
The carbon fiber multifilament tensile test can measure the tensile strength, tensile elastic modulus, and elongation at break of 1K~24K carbon fiber multifilament after dipping and curing. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has reliability testing capabilities for various carbon fiber multifilaments and provides professional tensile testing services for carbon fiber multifilaments.

Scope of tests

Carbon fiber can be divided into polyacrylonitrile-based, asphalt-based, viscose-based and phenolic-based based on the type of raw filaments. According to the mechanical properties, it can be divided into two categories: general-purpose (GP) and high-performance (HP).

Test method

Start the testing machine and data acquisition equipment. When the strain of the specimen reaches the upper limit of the specified strain range, unload the extensometer. The specimen should not be damaged when unloading, and the specimen is tested until it is destroyed. Record the failure load (or maximum load), and the failure pattern of the specimen. If the sample is damaged and the following conditions occur, it should be judged invalid;
a) The sample is partially broken; b the sample is pulled out at the reinforcing piece;
c) The specimen is damaged in the clamp or the distance between the specimen fracture point and the clamping point is less than 10 mm.
