Test Background
Hard rubber is a hard material made by adding sulfur and other additives to rubber and vulcanizing it. Due to the action of a large amount of vulcanizing agent, it has a high hardness. Impact strength refers to breaking a sample when it is impacted by a pendulum with a certain positional energy. The energy consumed when the sample is broken is measured and the strength at the time of impact damage is calculated.
The hard rubber impact test uses a pendulum with a certain positional energy to impact the sample to measure the energy consumed when the hard rubber breaks.

Scope of tests
Hard rubber is mostly used to make hoses, glue sticks, rubber plates, partitions and battery cases. In addition, it is also widely used as protective equipment, insulating gloves, insulating rubber boots, etc.
Test method
1. Measure the width and thickness of the loaded part in the middle of the sample, accurate to 0.02 mm.
2. Raise the pendulum of the testing machine and perform an air strike test at the same time. Lower the pendulum and impact three times to see if the pointer indicates zero.
3. After adjusting the zero point, raise the pendulum, place the sample tightly horizontally on the fulcrum of the testing machine, and release the pendulum to impact the wide surface of the sample.
4. When the pendulum swings back after impact, stop the pendulum swing and immediately write down the indicated value on the dial.
5. After the sample is broken, observe its cross section. If there is any defect, the data of the sample will be invalid and the sample should be re-sampled for measurement.
6. Each sample can only be impacted once. If the sample is not broken, the sample can be replaced and the test can be repeated with a larger energy pendulum. If the machine still fails to break when it reaches the maximum impact energy, the calculation will be based on the maximum impact energy.
