Rigid rubber shear test

Hard rubber, as a type of special rubber products, is widely used in chemical-resistant materials such as anti-corrosion linings and insulation materials due to its excellent chemical resistance and insulation properties, and plays an important role in industry. Shear strength refers to the maximum shear stress that a sample endures during the process of shearing to failure.
The hard rubber shear test can determine the hard rubber shear strength. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the reliability performance of various hard rubbers and provides professional shear testing services for hard rubbers.

Hard rubber is mostly used to make hoses, glue sticks, rubber plates, partitions and battery cases. In addition, it is also widely used as protective equipment, insulating gloves, insulating rubber boots, etc.

1. Measure the thickness and width of the shear load-bearing part in the middle of the sample. Measure three points respectively and take the median, accurate to 0.02 mm.
2. Install the upper and lower pull rods on the upper and lower chucks of the testing machine respectively, and adjust the zero point of the testing machine.
3. Place the sample into the connecting hole formed by the upper pull rod and the lower pull rod, and make the lengths of the exposed parts at both ends of the sample equal. The wide side of the sample placed in the square hole should be upward so that the shear load can be applied to the wide surface of the sample.
4. Start the motor to make the tensile machine pull rod move at a constant speed and shear the sample.
5. When the sample is sheared and damaged, record its maximum shear force value.
6. After the test, check the sample cross section for internal defects such as pores and impurities. If there are defects, the sample data will be invalid and the sample should be resampled for measurement.
