Test Background
The cold resistance of rubber refers to the ability to maintain rubber elasticity and normal operation at specified low temperatures. The cold resistance of vulcanized rubber mainly depends on two basic properties of polymers: glass transition and crystallization. Both cause rubber to lose elasticity at low temperatures. The vulcanized rubber compression cold resistance test can measure the low-temperature performance of rubber products that play the functions of shock absorption, sealing, buffering, etc. under low-temperature compression.

Scope of tests
In terms of its vulcanization method, vulcanized rubber can be roughly divided into:
(1) Flat vulcanizing machine vulcanization: flat tapes such as conveyor belts and transmission belts;
(2) Vulcanizing tank vulcanization: rubber hoses, rubber rollers, rubber shoes, air bags, rubber strips, tapes, drum lagging, pipe linings, cables, etc.;
(3) Continuous vulcanization: sealing strips, pure rubber hoses, wires and cables, etc.;
Test method
1. Compress the sample to a certain height, then freeze it in a certain low temperature environment for a specified time, and measure the recovery height after the compression load is removed for a certain period of time.
2. The following test temperatures are recommended for selection: -10 ℃; -25 ℃; -40 ℃; -50 ℃; -55 ℃;, -60 ℃; -70 ℃. If other test temperatures are used, they can be implemented in accordance with relevant standards.
3. The test instrument mainly consists of five parts: machine base, thermos flask, lifting mechanism, compression device and measuring device.
