Vulcanized rubber compression or shear performance test

Vulcanized rubber compression or shear performance test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Rubber seals are usually under compression. Due to the viscoelasticity of rubber, after the rubber is compressed, the compressive stress will decrease over time, which is manifested as compression stress relaxation; after the pressure is removed, the original shape cannot be restored, which is manifested as compression permanent deformation. In high temperature and oil media, these phenomena are more significant. They will affect the sealing performance of seals and are one of the important properties of rubber materials for seals.
The compression or shear performance test of vulcanized rubber can be performed using Yang Zini mechanical oscilloscope to measure the mechanical properties of vulcanized rubber within a conventional small deformation range.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability to test the reliability performance of various vulcanized rubbers and provides professional compression or shear performance testing services for vulcanized rubber.

Scope of tests

In terms of its vulcanization method, vulcanized rubber can be roughly divided into:
1) Flat vulcanizing machine vulcanization: flat tapes such as conveyor belts and transmission belts;
2) Vulcanizing tank vulcanization: rubber hoses, rubber rollers, rubber shoes, air bags, rubber strips, tapes, roller coatings, pipe linings, cables, etc.;
3) Continuous vulcanization: sealing strips, pure rubber hoses, wires and cables, etc.

Test method

1. Under the action of a swinging horizontal lever, the compression or shear deformation produced by the sample will be amplified by the recording pen and reflected on the recording drum of the oscilloscope.
2. Add a load to the crossbar, and the system can generate a damped free oscillation curve by impacting the sample. A series of dynamic properties of the material can be obtained from the damped oscillation curve, such as Yangtze elasticity, point modulus, frequency, effective dynamic modulus, maximum oscillation energy, creep and permanent deformation.
3. Add or subtract loads on the crossbar to cause static deformation of the sample. The static load-deformation curve can be recorded with a recording pen. Data such as the static modulus of the material can be obtained from the curve.
4. The elasticity of materials measured by this method is very important for studying the shock isolation and shock absorption effects of materials, and it is also strict in polymer physics theory.
Test data can serve as the basis for quality control, development and research work.
