Metallic material hardness test

Metallic material hardness test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Hardness is one of the most commonly used indicators to evaluate the mechanical properties of metal materials. The essence of hardness is the ability of a material to resist the intrusion of another harder material. Hardness testing is the fastest, most economical and simplest test method to evaluate the mechanical properties of metals.
The main purpose of metal material hardness testing is to determine the suitability of the material, or the effect of special hardening or softening treatment of the material for the purpose of use. For the material being tested, hardness represents the comprehensive performance of various physical quantities such as elasticity, plasticity, strength, toughness and wear resistance reflected under a certain indenter and test force.
Since hardness tests can reflect the performance differences of metal materials under different chemical compositions, organizational structures and heat treatment process conditions, hardness tests are widely used to inspect metal properties, supervise the quality of heat treatment processes and develop new materials.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various metal materials, and provides professional hardness testing services for metal materials.

Scope of tests

Metal materials are divided into ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. The ferrous metals include iron, copper, manganese and steel.
Non-ferrous metals include tin alloys, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, copper alloys, aluminum alloys and zinc alloys.

Test method

Scratch hardness: Mohs hardness test
Indentation hardness: Brinell hardness test, Rockwell hardness test, Vickers hardness test
Rebound hardness: Shore hardness test, Leeb hardness test
Static test methods: Brinell hardness test, Rockwell hardness test, Vickers hardness test, Knoop hardness test, Webster hardness test, Barcol hardness test
Dynamic testing method: Shore hardness test and Leeb hardness test
