Metal tube bending test

Metal tube bending test-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

metal material tube bending test can determine the full-section bending plastic deformation capacity of circular cross-section metal tubes with an outer diameter of no more than 65 mm.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of environmental testing and reliability performance testing of various metal materials, and provides professional bending testing services for metal pipes.

Scope of tests

Classified by production method: seamless pipes and welded pipes.
Seamless pipes are divided into hot-rolled pipes, cold-rolled pipes, cold-drawn pipes and extruded pipes due to different production processes. Welded pipes can be divided into straight seam welded pipes and spiral welded pipes due to different welding seam directions.
Classified by material: ordinary carbon pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, bearing steel pipes, weather-resistant steel pipes, corrosion-resistant steel pipes and various non-ferrous metal pipes.
According to the state of the pipe end, it can be divided into plain pipe and threaded pipe. Threaded pipes can be divided into ordinary threaded pipes, special threaded pipes, etc.

Test method

A full-section straight metal pipe is bent around a bending die with a specified radius and groove until the bending angle reaches the value specified in the relevant product standard.
1. The test should generally be conducted within the room temperature range of 10 ℃ ~ 35 ℃. For tests with strict temperature requirements, the test temperature should be 23℃±5℃.
2. Bend the sample without filler through the pipe bending testing machine. During the test, ensure that the bending deformation section of the sample is in close contact with the metal pipe bending die until the specified bending angle is reached.
3. When performing bending tests on straight seam welded pipes, the position of the weld relative to the bending plane should comply with the provisions of relevant product standards. If no specific requirements are specified, the weld shall be located at 90° to the bending plane (i.e., the neutral line of bending).
4. The bending test results should be explained according to the requirements of relevant product standards. When there is no provision in the product standard, if there are no visible cracks without using a magnifying glass, it shall be assessed as qualified.
