Test Background

Impact resistance reflects the elongation, static hardness and adhesion to the substrate of the tested insulation products. This indicator is of great significance for the quality appraisal of exterior wall insulation systems. The impact resistance test of building insulation products can determine the impact resistance of exterior wall insulation systems.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various building insulation products, and provides professional impact resistance testing and other reliability testing services for building insulation products.

Scope of tests

Inorganic fibrous products: asbestos products, mineral wool products, glass wool products, ceramic fiber products
Inorganic granular products: expanded vermiculite products, expanded perlite products
Inorganic porous products: diatomite products, microporous calcium silicate products, foam glass products, foam concrete and aerated concrete products

Test method

The impact resistance of the external wall insulation system is measured by impacting the surface of the external wall insulation system with a steel ball. Any damage to the system should be evaluated qualitatively, such as exposure of reinforcements, obvious peeling or perforation of facing layers.
1. For the test requiring 3J, a 500 g steel ball falls from a height of 610 mm to the surface of the specimen. For the test requiring 10J, a 1000 g steel ball falls onto the specimen surface from a height of 1020 mm. Each test shall impact 5 times on different parts of the specimen surface, with the distance between the impact points or the edge being at least 100 mm.
2. Describe the observed damage. The following results are considered corrupt:
1) The enhancement layer is exposed;
2) There is obvious layering in the facing material or base layer;
3) Slight dent, but no cracking or other damage to the facing layer;
4) Enhancement layer perforation;
5) The base layer is not damaged, but the facing layer has cracks.
