Parallel tensile strength test of building thermal insulation products-Mechanical Testing-

Test Background

Tensile testing is to slowly pull a material sample under the action of an axial force until it breaks. Tensile testing is used to measure the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation of materials such as low carbon steel. Parallel tensile strength testing of building insulation products determines whether the product has sufficient strength to withstand stresses during transportation and application.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various building insulation products, and provides professional reliability testing services such as parallel tensile strength testing for building insulation products.

Scope of tests

Inorganic fibrous products: asbestos products, mineral wool products, glass wool products, ceramic fiber products
Inorganic granular products: expanded vermiculite products, expanded perlite products
Inorganic porous products: diatomite products, microporous calcium silicate products, foam glass products, foam concrete and aerated concrete products

Test method

Attach the clamp to the testing machine, then install the specimen and conduct the tensile test at a constant speed until failure. Record the maximum tensile load and calculate the tensile strength.
1. Measure the thickness d of the test area of the sample according to ISO 29466, expressed in mm, accurate to 1 mm.
2. Measure the sample length l and the width of the test area b according to ISO 29768, expressed in mm, accurate to 1 mm.
3. Install the sample onto the fixture of the testing machine. Keep the axis of the sample consistent with the center of the fixture to make the stress distribution uniform. Apply tensile load at a constant speed until the sample is damaged.
4. Record the maximum tensile load, expressed in kN.
5. Record the damage pattern. Any specimen damaged outside the test area shall be discarded.
