Test Background
The main effects of mechanical impact on marine instruments include: changes in friction between parts or mutual interference; changes in insulation properties, changes in magnetic field and electric field strength; mechanical deformation and fracture; accelerated fatigue of materials, etc. These effects can lead to equipment failure of marine instruments; mechanical failure, permanent mechanical deformation, package rupture, electrical failure; and reduced service life.
The marine instrument impact test can assess or determine the adaptability of marine instruments under impact conditions.

Scope of tests
Marine instruments are classified according to different environmental conditions of use and are divided into four categories:
1. Instruments for shore stations: such as marine instruments installed and used on coastal stations, offshore fixed platforms and islands.
2. Instruments for ships and buoys: such as marine instruments used on various types of ships, buoys and other mobile offshore platforms.
3. Underwater instruments: such as marine instruments or sensors used in seawater.
4. Satellite and aeronautical instruments: The environmental testing of such instruments should adopt other environmental testing standards based on the characteristics of the environmental conditions in which they are used.
Test method
1. The impact test is used to carry out non-repetitive, large-value, short-time stimulus testing.
2. The test sample should be rigidly fixed on the impact system in an unpackaged and unenergized state. Unless otherwise specified, the test sample shall generally be impacted three times in forward and reverse directions on three mutually perpendicular axes, for a total of 18 times.
3. External cables, hoses, etc. connected to the test sample should be of sufficient length and must not hinder the rebound impact phenomenon during the test.
4. During the test, unless otherwise specified, the test sample should be in working condition.
