Test Background

The sand and dust test is used to evaluate the resistance of test equipment to dry sand or dust-filled atmosphere and whether it can be stored and operated. The sand and dust test of ground radio navigation equipment can determine its applicability to flying sand and dust environments.
Zhongke Testing and Reliability Experiment Center has environmental testing capabilities for various navigation equipment and provides professional sand and dust environment testing services for ground radio navigation equipment.

Scope of tests

Ground radio navigation equipment is an integral part of the radio navigation system.
Ground equipment can be divided into three parts: heading beacon, glide beacon, pointing beacon or range finder. When the rangefinder is part of an instrument landing system, it is usually mounted on the glide beacon.

Test method

1. Install test samples according to product standards and requirements. Doors and windows should be closed, and the most critical or weak parts of the test sample should face the direction of sand and dust impact.
2. Conduct initial testing on test samples as required.
3. Control the temperature in the test room (box) to 23°C, the sand and dust conditions should meet the regulations, the time is 6 hours, and the test sample does not work.
4. Stop dust transport, reduce the air flow speed to 1.5±1 m/s and raise the chamber (box) temperature to 60°C or the maximum operating temperature specified in the product standard at a rate of no more than 1°C/min (5 min average) until the test sample remains stable at this temperature.
5. Transport dust as required and conduct the test at a temperature of 6°C or the maximum operating temperature specified in the product standard for 6 hours.
6. Cut off all controls in the laboratory to restore the test sample to normal atmospheric conditions. Take out the test sample and use brushing and wiping to remove dust on the surface. Dust must not enter the test sample again during the dust removal process.
