Optical Cable Temperature Cycle Test-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

Changes in fiber optic cable attenuation can occur with temperature changes, often as a result of bending or straining of the fiber due to differences in the thermal expansion coefficients of the fiber and the cable's strength members and sheaths.
The optical cable temperature cycle test can determine the stability of the attenuation of the optical cable when subjected to temperature changes, and can also be used to evaluate the adaptability of loose tubes or other independent optical cable components to withstand temperature changes.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the environmental performance of various optical cables and provides professional temperature cycle testing services for optical cables.

Scope of tests

1. According to different transmission performance, distance and purpose, optical cables can be divided into user optical cables, local optical cables, long-distance optical cables and submarine optical cables.
2. According to the different conditions of transmission conductors and media, optical cables can be divided into metal-free optical cables, ordinary optical cables, and comprehensive optical cables (mainly used for railway dedicated network communication lines).
3. According to different laying methods, optical cables can be divided into pipeline optical cables, direct buried optical cables, aerial optical cables and underwater optical cables.
4. According to different structural methods, optical cables can be divided into flat structure optical cables, layered optical cables, skeleton optical cables, armored optical cables and high-density user optical cables.

Test method

1. The optical cable temperature cycle test is divided into a single temperature cycle program and a combined temperature cycle program.
2. Unless otherwise required by the relevant detailed specifications, the specimen shall be subjected to at least 2 cycles. A single temperature cycle should consist of 1 low temperature and 1 high temperature, and the last cycle should be 1 low temperature and 1 high temperature.
3. If multiple low temperatures and high temperatures are required, the last cycle should include 2 or more low temperatures and 2 or more high temperatures.
