Optical cable aging test-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

Optical cable aging test is suitable for high temperature and aging tests of optical cables to simulate the attenuated life characteristics of optical cables or the physical properties specified in detailed specifications. End of cable life cannot be predicted by this test, but the test data is useful in modeling cable life.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the environmental performance of various optical cables and provides professional aging test services for optical cables.

Scope of tests

1. According to different transmission performance, distance and purpose, optical cables can be divided into user optical cables, local optical cables, long-distance optical cables and submarine optical cables.
2. According to the different conditions of transmission conductors and media, optical cables can be divided into metal-free optical cables, ordinary optical cables, and comprehensive optical cables (mainly used for railway dedicated network communication lines).
3. According to different laying methods, optical cables can be divided into pipeline optical cables, direct buried optical cables, aerial optical cables and underwater optical cables.
4. According to different structural methods, optical cables can be divided into flat structure optical cables, layered optical cables, skeleton optical cables, armored optical cables and high-density user optical cables.

Test method

1. Optical cable aging test is often used as part of the temperature cycle test and should be performed after the temperature cycle test. At this time, the initial attenuation value of the aging test should be the measured value at the ambient temperature after the last cycle of the temperature cycle test. If this test is not used in conjunction with a temperature cycling test, the initial attenuation value shall be measured at ambient temperature.
2. The optical cable should be exposed to the specified temperature and time, and no attenuation measurement is required at this stage.
3. After aging, 2 cycle tests need to be carried out according to the temperature cycle. At the end of the temperature cycle, the temperature should be lowered to room temperature, maintained for 24 h, and the decay measured.
