Test Background
As people pay more and more attention to the environment, it is a general trend for water-based anti-corrosion coatings to replace oil-based anti-corrosion coatings. However, in order to control VOC emissions, water-based coatings replace solvents with water, which causes many performance problems. Especially after oil is changed to water, its salt spray resistance is greatly reduced, and its anti-corrosion performance is greatly reduced. In principle, water-miscible systems, even latex, must have enough hydrophilic groups, which will inevitably lead to a decrease in water resistance and salt spray resistance.
The neutral salt spray test of paints and varnishes can determine the resistance of coatings to neutral salt spray. Scope of tests
Color paint is divided into primer and topcoat: primer is divided into primer, putty, mid-coat, sealer, anti-rust paint, etc.; topcoat is divided into enamel paint, special topcoat, etc.
The paint and film of varnish are transparent and are divided into ester varnish, shellac varnish, phenolic varnish, alkyd varnish, acrylic varnish, polyester varnish, high-performance varnish, fluorocarbon varnish, etc.
Test method
Expose the painted test panel to neutral salt spray, and evaluate the results of salt spray exposure using principles or standards pre-agreed by the parties concerned.
