Test Background
The heat resistance test of paints and varnishes determines the performance of a single coating or composite coating system of paints, varnishes or related products in changing the color, gloss, blistering, cracking or peeling from the substrate at specified temperatures.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various paints and varnishes, and provides professional heat resistance testing services for paints and varnishes.
Scope of tests
Color paint is divided into primer and topcoat: primer is divided into primer, putty, mid-coat, sealer, anti-rust paint, etc.; topcoat is divided into enamel paint, special topcoat, etc.
The paint and film of varnish are transparent and are divided into ester varnish, shellac varnish, phenolic varnish, alkyd varnish, acrylic varnish, polyester varnish, high-performance varnish, fluorocarbon varnish, etc.
Test method
1. Place three test panels into a blast oven or high-temperature furnace with a specified temperature. If the test is conducted in an oven, the distance between the test panels and each side of the oven shall not be less than 100 mm, and the distance between the test panels shall not be less than 20 mm. If the test is conducted in a high-temperature furnace, try to place the test panels in the middle of the high-temperature furnace.
2. Place the test panel at the specified temperature for the specified time. The best way to ensure uniform heating of a painted test panel is to hang it from a thin wire, place it on a rack made of a suitable heat-resistant material or place it with the painted side up on a plate made of heat-resistant material on a support.
3. After the specified time is reached, take the test plate out of the oven or high-temperature furnace and allow it to cool to room temperature. Check the test panel and compare it with an unheated test panel prepared under the same conditions to see whether there is a change in the color of the coating film or whether there is other damage to the coating film. The test result shall be that the phenomena on at least two test panels are consistent.
