Hot air aging test of coated fabrics

Hot air aging test of coated fabrics-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

Coated fabric is a kind of textile in which the coating adhesive material forms a single or multi-layer coating in situ on one side or both sides of the fabric. Composed of two or more layers of material, at least one of which is a textile and the other is a fully continuous polymer coating. Hot air aging test of coated fabrics can be used to determine the performance changes of coated fabrics through accelerated aging tests.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various coated fabrics and provides professional hot air aging test services for coated fabrics.

Scope of tests

PA coating, PU coating, anti-velvet coating, PA white glue coating, PU white glue coating, PA silver glue coating, PU silver glue coating, pearlescent coating, flame retardant coating, etc.

Test method

Method A: Heat Loss of Volatile Substances from PVC Coated Fabrics
PVC-coated fabrics may lose plasticity due to volatiles, which may adversely affect coating performance. This method accelerates the loss of volatiles by exposing the specimen to high temperatures and then determines the mass loss of the coating.
Method B: Generic method
In the aging test, the oxygen concentration is low. If the oxidation is rapid, the oxygen cannot diffuse into the coating quickly to ensure uniform oxidation. Therefore, for products with thicker coatings, this method may give erroneous results. If necessary, the aging time can be extended to evenly oxidize it.
Method C: Testing under tropical conditions
This aging test exposes the coating sample to an air environment with a relative humidity of at least 95% and a temperature of 70°C within a specified period of time. In special cases, other appropriate relative humidity, temperatures and aging times may be selected. This test is not applicable when the material is continuously immersed in water during use.
Method D: Aging test on nitrocellulose coatings
Nitrocellulose coating products are mainly end-use products and require long-term flexibility at the overlap of the product. This method attempts to simulate and accelerate the aging of flexibility, so the final result is a visual inspection rather than a measurement of mass loss.
