Test Background
Ozonation is the main factor that causes cracks in rubber and plastics. Various rubbers and plastics have different ozone aging resistance. The Ozone Resistance Performance Test of Rubber and Plastic Hoses evaluates a hose's ability to withstand the harmful effects of ozone in the atmosphere under static conditions.

Scope of tests
Rubber and plastic hoses are mainly divided according to their uses: threading hoses, drainage hoses, ventilation hoses, shower hoses, and wiring harness tubes.
Rubber and plastic hoses are mainly divided into corrugated hoses, rubber hoses and plastic hoses according to their materials.
Test method
Method 1: Applicable to hoses with an inner diameter of 25 mm and below, tested with hoses;
Method 2: Applicable to hoses with an inner diameter greater than 25 mm, using specimens cut from the hose wall for testing;
Method 3: Applicable to hoses with an inner diameter greater than 25 mm, use samples cut from the outer covering of the hose for testing;
Method 4: Applicable to all specifications of hoses, test with hoses;
Method 5: Applicable to all specifications of hoses. The test is performed on expandable hoses, such as hoses with fabric reinforcements.
Method 1 and Method 2 are commonly used test methods, and Method 3 is a test method that is only used when the test cannot be carried out according to Method 2. Method 4 is suitable for all sizes of hose. The test of Method 5 is designed for use with expandable hoses in the expanded state.
The results obtained by Method 1 are not comparable to the results obtained by Method 2 or Method 3, even if the outer cover compound of the test hose is identical in formulation and degree of vulcanization. The product standard should specify which test method is used.
