Humid heat aging test of vulcanized rubber

Humid heat aging test of vulcanized rubber-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

The aging damage of rubber caused by moisture and heat is mainly manifested in the penetration of water vapor into rubber and the acceleration of this penetration by heat. Depending on the type and formula of rubber, the aging process has different mechanisms. Generally speaking, humidity will have the following effects on rubber: it will cause the rubber sample to expand, increase the gaps between molecular chains, expose more weak molecular bonds, and increase the stress of the molecular chain; make the compounding agents in the rubber easy to diffuse and lose, and promote the release of hydrogen halide from halogen-containing chains; make variable-price metals act as catalytic activation; cause hydrolysis reactions in chains containing ester, ether, and amide groups.
Humidity also accelerates ozone oxidation. The moist heat aging test is an artificial accelerated aging test used to identify or study the aging resistance of polymer materials. It can also be used to study and estimate the storage period and service life of certain polymer materials. The vulcanized rubber moist heat aging test can determine the damp heat aging resistance of vulcanized rubber in a humid hot air environment.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the reliability performance of various vulcanized rubbers and provides professional wet and heat aging test services for vulcanized rubber.

Scope of tests

In terms of its vulcanization method, vulcanized rubber can be roughly divided into:
1) Flat vulcanizing machine vulcanization: flat tapes such as conveyor belts and transmission belts;
2) Vulcanizing tank vulcanization: rubber hoses, rubber rollers, rubber shoes, air bags, rubber strips, tapes, roller coatings, pipe linings, cables, etc.;
3) Continuous vulcanization: sealing strips, pure rubber hoses, wires and cables, etc.

Test method

The rubber sample is exposed to a humid hot air environment, subjected to the action of hot air and water vapor, and the changes in the sample performance are detected at a predetermined time to evaluate the rubber's resistance to moisture and heat aging.
