Damp-heat test for military equipment

Damp-heat test for military equipment-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

A humid environment will have physical and chemical effects on equipment; changes in temperature and humidity can cause condensation inside the equipment. Hot and humid environments may cause these effects on military equipment: metal oxidation/electrochemical corrosion, chemical or electrochemical damage to organic and inorganic surface coatings, corrosion layers produced by the interaction of surface water vapor and foreign attachments, bonding or adhesion caused by changes in friction coefficients, material expansion due to absorption effects, reduction in physical strength, changes in electrical insulation and thermal insulation properties, electrical short circuits and optical surface blur caused by condensation and free water, etc.
The heat and humidity test of military equipment can measure the adaptability of various military equipment to hot and humid environments and determine the ability of the equipment to withstand the influence of hot and humid atmosphere.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capabilities of climatic environment testing and mechanical environment testing of various military equipment, and provides professional hot and humid testing services for military equipment.

Scope of tests

1. Equipment that may be stored or used in hot and humid environments;
2. Equipment that may be stored or used in environments that produce high humidity;
3. Indicates potential problems with the equipment that may be related to heat and humidity.

Test method

1. The damp heat test is based on a cycle of 24 hours, with a minimum of 10 cycles. Generally, 10 cycles are enough to show the potential impact of hot and humid environments on most equipment. In order to make the hot and humid test results more truly reflect the equipment's ability to withstand hot and humid environments, the test duration can be extended in accordance with the provisions of relevant documents.
2. If the equipment should work in a hot and humid environment, performance testing should be performed at least once every 5 cycles.

Test standard:

GJB150.9A-2009 Military equipment laboratory environmental test methods Part 9: Damp heat test
GJB150.1A-2009 Military equipment laboratory environmental test methods Part 1: General requirements
GJB 4239 General requirements for equipment environmental engineering
