Test Background
The salt spray aging strength test of natural stone can understand the corrosion and degradation phenomena of stone under salt spray conditions, thereby obtaining the salt spray aging resistance strength of the material, which can serve as a basis for the design of stone curtain walls and interior decoration in coastal areas, and provide technical guidance for deeper application research on materials. The salt spray aging resistance test of natural stone can determine the salt spray aging resistance of natural stone.

Scope of tests
Natural stone refers to the general name for materials that are mined from natural rock masses and processed into block or plate shapes.
The natural stones used for building decoration mainly include natural marble, natural jade (for decoration, non-commercial jade), granite, sandstone, slate, quartz-based stone, etc.
Test method
The sample was placed in an aging box with atomized salt solution for 4 hours, and then dried for 8 hours. The cycle was repeated 60 times to assess quality loss and appearance changes.
1. Before the test, two salt spray collectors should be placed in the box, one close to the nozzle and the other far away. Spray salt spray for at least 16 hours, and finally check each collector to collect 1.0 mL~2.0 mL of solution every hour.
2. Place the dry sample into the box with non-corrosive support such as glass, plastic, etc. Each specimen is separated and exposed to salt spray conditions only, avoiding direct spray or dripping areas.
3. Place under salt spray conditions for 4 hours ± 15 minutes, turn off the salt spray spray system, and allow the sample to dry in the box for 8 hours ± 15 minutes, which is a cycle. During the cycle, the temperature inside the box should be maintained at (35±5)℃.
4. The test requires 60 cycles. Unless at least 2 samples are cracked or completely broken by visual observation, the cycle can be ended early.
5. Every 15 cycles, take out the sample from the box and observe it with the naked eye.
6. After the test, gently take out the sample and put it into clean water to remove sediment. The volume of water in the container should be 2 to 3 times the total volume of the sample. Cleaning is a slow process, and new water should be replaced every day until the salt on the surface of the sample is completely removed. Complete removal is considered when the conductivity of the water in contact with the specimen does not exceed twice the original value.
7. After the sample is dried in a blast drying oven at (65±5)℃ for 48 hours, it is placed in a desiccator and cooled to room temperature, weighed, and the appearance is checked.
