Test Background
The main effects of the alternating hot and humid environment on marine instruments are: too high humidity will cause the instrument to absorb moisture or the device to expand, leading to physical damage to the instrument, insulation damage, mechanical failure, etc.; too low humidity will cause the instrument to dry, embrittle, shrink, reduce mechanical strength, etc., leading to mechanical failure and cracking.
The alternating heat and humidity test of marine instruments can assess and determine the suitability of marine instruments for use or storage in hot and humid environmental conditions where temperature cycles change and condensation occurs on the product surface.

Scope of tests
Marine instruments are classified according to different environmental conditions of use and are divided into four categories:
1. Instruments for shore stations: such as marine instruments installed and used on coastal stations, offshore fixed platforms and islands.
2. Instruments for ships and buoys: such as marine instruments used on various types of ships, buoys and other mobile offshore platforms.
3. Underwater instruments: such as marine instruments or sensors used in seawater.
4. Satellite and aeronautical instruments: The environmental testing of such instruments should adopt other environmental testing standards based on the characteristics of the environmental conditions in which they are used.
Test method
1. Unless otherwise specified, the test temperature for the alternating heat and humidity test of marine instruments should be selected from the following values,
Relative humidity:
a) Normal temperature: (25±2) ℃, high temperature temperature (40±2) ℃; Relative humidity: 95%~100% at normal temperature stage, 90%~96% at high temperature stage;
b) Normal temperature: (25±2) ℃, high temperature temperature (55±2) ℃; Relative humidity: 95%~100% at normal temperature stage, 90%~96% at high temperature stage.
2. One alternating period is 1d. Unless otherwise specified, the test period is selected from the following values: 2 d, 4 d, 6 d, and 10 d.
