Test Background
The main effects of sand and dust on airborne equipment are: sand and dust penetrate into cracks, pores, bearings and joints, causing obstruction and/or blockage of moving parts, relays, filters, etc.; forming conductive bridges; becoming the core of water vapor condensation, which may cause secondary corrosion effects; causing fluids in the equipment (such as hydraulic oil, lubricating oil) to be contaminated, resulting in failures caused by wear and tear.
The purpose of the aircraft airborne equipment sand and dust test is to determine the test sample's ability to withstand the impact of sand and dust carried by wind or airflow at moderate speeds. Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the environmental testing capabilities for various aircraft airborne equipment, and provides professional environmental testing services such as waterproof testing, sand and dust testing, mold testing, and salt spray testing for aircraft airborne equipment.
Scope of tests
Class D: The installation position of the equipment on the aircraft will be affected by blowing dust during normal operation.
Category S: The installation location of the equipment on the aircraft will be affected by sand blowing and dust blowing during normal operation. These locations include the cockpit or any other location without special sand and dust protection measures.
Test method
1. Dust blowing test: The silica content in the test dust should be 97% to 99%.
2. Sand blowing test: The sand blowing test uses silica (containing SiO: at least 95% by weight) and sand with an angular structure.
