Test Background
The purpose of the mold test on aircraft onboard equipment is to determine the harmful effects of mold on the materials on the equipment under conditions conducive to mold growth, that is, in the presence of high humidity, warm air and inorganic salts. These materials are often susceptible to contamination from liquids used during routine work or maintenance, or are exposed to sunlight and photochemical effects that cause molecular chains to break and decompose into secondary products that can provide nutrients for mold growth.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the environmental testing capabilities for various aircraft airborne equipment, and provides professional environmental testing services such as waterproof testing, sand and dust testing, mold testing, and salt spray testing for aircraft airborne equipment.
Scope of tests
Category F: Equipment installed in an environment seriously contaminated by mold is classified as Category F. This type of equipment should be tested for mildew resistance.
Mold testing is not required if it can be proven by the composition of the materials or previous testing that all materials used to construct the equipment do not contain nutrients for mold growth.
Mold Grade
Level 0: 0% mold growth area, no mold growth.
Level 1: 1~10% of the mold growth area, mold growth is scattered, rare or very localized.
Level 2: 11~30% of the area is moldy, with intermittent spreading or loosely distributed colonies, and moderate mold reproduction.
Level 3: 31~70% of the mold-growing area, mold grows and reproduces in large quantities, and the test sample shows chemical, physical or structural changes.
Level 4: 71~100% of the mold-growing area, mold grows and reproduces in large quantities, and the test sample is decomposed or deteriorates rapidly.
