Test Background
The waterproof test of aircraft airborne equipment is suitable for airborne equipment that can be affected by condensation, dripping water, rain and spray water to determine whether the equipment can withstand the impact of liquid water sprayed or dripped onto it or the impact of condensation water.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the environmental testing capabilities for various aircraft airborne equipment, and provides professional environmental testing services such as waterproof testing, sand and dust testing, mold testing, and salt spray testing for aircraft airborne equipment.
Scope of tests
Category Y: Equipment installed in parts that will be affected by condensation water during normal operation of the aircraft should be tested against condensation water and classified into Category Y.
Category W: Equipment installed in parts that will be affected by dripping water (usually caused by condensation) during normal operation of the aircraft should be tested against dripping water and classified as Category W.
Category R: Equipment installed in locations that are subject to wind, rain or water spray from any angle should be tested against water spray and classified as Category R.
Equipment that passes the R-type test requirements can be considered to meet the W-type requirements and does not need to be subjected to the drip-proof test.
Category S: Equipment installed in areas that may be subject to strong flow forces of liquids (such as flowing water encountered during aircraft de-icing, flushing or cleaning operations) should be tested against continuous flowing water and classified as Category S.
Equipment that passes the S-type test requirements can be considered to meet the W-type requirements and will no longer be subject to drip-proof testing.
