Damp heat test for electrical and electronic products

The damp heat test is one of the three-proof tests for products (moisture-proof, mildew-proof, and salt spray-proof) and is widely used in the field of electronic and electrical technology. Damp heat test includes constant damp heat test, alternating damp heat test, steady-state damp heat test, cyclic damp heat test, high temperature and high humidity environment test, etc. It can assess the adaptability of electronic and electrical products to various damp heat environments in various humid environments, especially the changes in the electrical and mechanical properties of the product.

1. Constant heat and humidity test
The constant damp heat test should always be used where absorption, adsorption or diffusion plays a major role. When diffusion is present but respiration is not included, the decision whether to use constant moist heat or alternating moist heat should depend on the sample and its application.
The constant heat and humidity test is mainly used to determine the ability of materials to maintain electrical performance in humid air, or to evaluate the ability of packaged components and assemblies to prevent the diffusion of water vapor.
2. Alternating heat and humidity test
The alternating heat and humidity test is suitable for various occasions where the generation of condensation or the intrusion of water vapor due to respiration and the formation of liquid water are important features. By properly selecting the alternating damp heat test parameters, the alternating damp heat test can be applied to all types of test samples.
Variation 1 applies to all situations where absorption or breathing effects are important features.
The test equipment used in variation 2 is relatively simple and is suitable for situations where the absorption or respiration effects are not significant.
