Low Temperature Testing of Marine Equipment

Low Temperature Testing of Marine Equipment-Reliability Testing-

Test Background

The purpose of the low-temperature test of ship equipment is to reveal the changes in the mechanical and electrical properties of the equipment test sample under specified low-temperature test conditions, and to evaluate the adaptability of the test product in the low-temperature environment of the ship based on the test outline and technical conditions of the test product.
Zhongke Testing Environmental Reliability Experiment Center has a variety of ship equipment environmental testing equipment and has various levels of low-temperature testing capabilities. It provides professional ship equipment low-temperature testing services for gyrocompasses, electronic appliances, electronic instruments, automation equipment and other equipment in ship cabins.

Environmental Effects

Low temperature is one of the important environmental factors on ships. Equipment installed on open decks, deck cabins without heating measures, and general cabins will be affected by the low temperature environment. Low temperature can cause changes in the physical properties and dimensions of equipment materials, affecting equipment performance or even failure.
Some typical problems caused by equipment in low temperature environments are as follows:
1. The viscosity of the lubricant increases, the flow capacity decreases, and the lubrication effect is reduced;
2. During the temperature transient process, the different shrinkage of various materials and the difference in expansion of different parts cause the parts to bite each other;
3. Performance changes of transformers and electromechanical components;
4. Reduced vibration damping performance;
5. The performance of electronic components changes.

Test Grade

The low-temperature test temperatures corresponding to each ship equipment are as follows:
0±3℃: Equipment for gyro compasses, electronic appliances, electronic instruments, automation equipment, computers, and engine room main control stations in ship cabins. Conventional submarine cabins and surface ship power cabin equipment
-10±3℃: Equipment in general cabins of surface ships
-150±3℃: ship communication navigation equipment and navigation equipment
-20±3℃: Ship outdoor compass
-25±3℃: ship’s open-air or unheated cabin equipment
-30±3℃: open-air equipment of ships (including surface craft and conventional submarines)
