Test Background

The carbon arc lamp aging test is one of the test methods that simulates the aging of light. There are two types of carbon arc lamp aging tests: one is a closed carbon arc lamp, and the other is a sunlight-type carbon arc lamp. The former is initially used for the light resistance test of textiles, and the latter is used for the light resistance test of layers.
The luminous body of a closed carbon arc lamp is a group of carbon rods. The spectral energy distribution of the arc light emitted by the current passing through the carbon rods is quite different from the spectral energy distribution of natural light. There is neither the segment-wave ultraviolet radiation of natural light nor the high-intensity energy of sunlight between 400-800nm.
The matching of the spectral energy distribution of solar carbon arc lamps and sunlight has improved, but the spectral energy distribution between the two is still very different between 50-350nm.
