ODS TestingProject Overview

Industrially produced and used chlorofluorocarbons, halons and other substances, when they are released into the atmosphere and rise to the stratosphere, are exposed to ultraviolet rays and decompose into Cl·free radicals or Br·free radicals. These free radicals quickly undergo a chain reaction with ozone, causing the ozone layer to be destroyed. These substances that destroy the ozone layer of the atmosphere are called "ozone-depleting substances", and their English name is Ozone-Depleting Substances, or ODS for short.

China joined the Montreal Protocol in 1991, and in 2010 it first formulated and released the "China's List of Controlled Ozone Depleting Substances", which included 8 types of substances controlled by the protocol (except HFCs) into the list. On October 14, 2016, the "Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer" (hereinafter referred to as the "Kigali Amendment") was officially signed and became effective on January 1, 2019. my country deposited its instrument of acceptance with the United Nations in June 2021. On September 15 of the same year, the "Kigali Amendment" officially entered into force for our country (it does not apply to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China for the time being).

"China's List of Controlled Ozone Depleting Substances" was revised and officially released in October 2021, adding 18 HFCs controlled by the Kigali Amendment to the list. Since then, my country's controlled substances have included 114 species in 9 categories, and the consumer industries mainly involve foam plastics, indoor air conditioners, industrial and commercial refrigeration and solvent industries.

As of now, my country has fully completed the phase-out of perchlorofluorocarbons, halons, carbon tetrachloride, methyl chloroform, hydrobromofluorocarbons, bromochloromethane, and methyl bromide, and is currently carrying out the reduction and elimination of hydrochlorofluorocarbons and hydrofluorocarbons.

Zhongke Testing provides ODS testing services to help environmental protection.
