Test Background

The water resistance of pigments refers to the ability of pigments to resist water dissolution and water staining due to the pigment being slightly soluble in water. The water resistance of pigments refers to the ability of pigments to resist dissolution in water and cause water staining. When the pigment comes into contact with water, water staining will occur because the pigment is slightly soluble in water.
Therefore, water resistance measurement is also one of the important application properties of pigments (especially organic pigments). The pigment water resistance test determines the water resistance of pigments.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various pigments and provides professional water resistance testing services for pigments.

Scope of tests

1. According to the chemical composition of pigments, they can be divided into two categories: inorganic pigments and organic pigments. According to their sources, they can be divided into natural pigments and synthetic pigments.
2. Pigments are classified according to their function, such as anti-rust pigments, magnetic pigments, luminescent pigments, pearlescent pigments, conductive pigments, etc.
3. From the perspective of production and manufacturing, it can be classified into titanium pigments, iron pigments, chromium pigments, lead pigments, zinc pigments, metallic pigments, and organic synthetic pigments.
4. From the perspective of application, it can be classified into paint pigments, ink pigments, plastic pigments, rubber pigments, ceramic and enamel pigments, pharmaceutical and cosmetic pigments, art pigments, etc.

Test method

1. The water resistance of pigments is expressed by the staining level of the filtrate.
2. The best staining level of the filtrate is level 5, and the worst is level 1. The staining level of the filtrate is between the two levels, represented by 4~5, 3~4, 2~3 and 1~2.
3. The parallel test results should be the same, otherwise the test will be re-tested.
