Test Background
The scratch resistance test is a routine item for surface quality control of automotive interior and exterior plastic parts, and is also an important indicator for quality control of automotive interior and exterior plastic parts. Due to the different environments, different parts and types of automotive interior and exterior plastic parts, various scratch test methods have been formed. Both the plastic manufacturing industry and the automotive industry are actively looking for better testing and characterization of the scratch resistance performance test methods of polymer materials.

Scope of tests
1. Polycarbonate plastic: lamps, instrument signs, sun visors, window glass, bumpers, etc.;
2. RIM plastic: bumpers, radiator grilles, spoilers, fenders, etc.;
3. Polyethylene plastic: damping materials for fenders, ceilings and doors, trunk mats, air ducts, gasoline tanks, etc.;
4. Polyvinyl chloride plastic: instrument panel cover, car roof lining, rear cover skin, spare tire cover, steering wheel, bumper cover, wire coating, etc.;
5. Polypropylene plastic: heating and ventilation systems, cabins, engine compartments, car bodies, light housings, tool boxes, wire terminals, junction box covers, silencers, etc.;
6. ABS plastic: rear fenders, instrument panels, radio covers, air exhaust pipes, steering wheel horn covers, grilles, rear guards, upper ventilation covers, wheel covers, blinds, brackets, mirror frames, etc.;
Test method
1. Scratch test: Check the degree of damage to the internal product; The surface of the product is rubbed with 000# steel fiber, the surface pressure is 6.5 kPa, the speed is 6 m/min, and the number of frictions is agreed upon by both parties.
2. Washing test: Check the degree of damage to external products due to washing of the car body. Apply muddy water that meets the specified properties on the surface of the product to make the surface evenly moist and let it dry naturally. Roughly remove the mud on the surface of the product with water, then scrub it 3 to 5 times with a sponge, cloth or plastic brush, and finally let the product dry naturally.
