Plastic pipe wear resistance test-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

Wear resistance refers to the material’s ability to withstand wear caused by the mechanical action of a moving solid/liquid mixture on the surface of the pipe sample. The wear resistance test of plastic pipes determines their wear resistance properties.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various plastics and provides professional wear resistance testing services for plastic pipes.

Scope of tests

There are 6 common types of plastic pipes:
1) Rigid polyvinyl chloride plastic pipe, i.e. UPVC pipe.
2) Polyethylene pipe, that is, PE pipe.
3) Cross-linked polyethylene pipe, namely PE-X pipe.
4) Random copolymer polypropylene pipe, namely PP-R pipe.
5) Polybutylene pipe, that is, PB pipe.
6) Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene pipe, namely ABS pipe.

Test method

Put the prepared abrasion media into the pipe with one end sealed, and then seal the other end. The pipe is fixed to the pipe wear resistance testing machine, and the pipe is made to perform a sinusoidal reciprocating tilting motion with an angle of ±22.5° in the axial direction to test the amount of wear caused by the movement of the wear medium on the inner surface of the pipe.
