Test Background
Waterproof membrane is mainly used in building walls, roofs, tunnels, highways, landfills, etc. It is a flexible building material product that can be rolled into a roll to resist external rainwater and groundwater leakage. As a leak-free connection between the project foundation and the building, it is the first barrier to waterproofing of the entire project and plays a vital role in the entire project.
The water absorption test of building waterproofing membranes can determine the water absorption performance of building waterproofing membranes.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the capability of reliability testing of various building waterproofing membranes, and provides professional water absorption testing services for building waterproofing membranes.
Scope of tests
1. According to the main composition materials, it is divided into asphalt waterproof membrane, polymer modified asphalt waterproof membrane and synthetic polymer waterproof membrane.
2. According to the different carcasses, they are divided into carcassless rolls, paper carcass rolls, glass fiber carcass rolls, glass cloth carcass rolls and polyethylene carcass rolls.
Test method
Water absorption is measured by immersing asphalt and polymer waterproofing membranes in water for a specified period of time and measuring the increase in mass.
1. Take 3 specimens, use a brush to remove the isolation material on the surface of the specimen, and then weigh (W1). Immerse the specimen in water at (23±2)°C. Place the specimens on the specimen rack and separate them from each other to avoid surface contact with each other. The water surface is 20 mm~30 mm higher than the upper end of the specimen.
2. If the test piece floats, use a suitable weight to press it down, but it should not cause damage or deformation to the test piece.
3. After soaking for 4 hours, take out the specimen and use paper towels to absorb the moisture on the surface until there is no water stain on the surface of the specimen. Weigh the mass of the specimen immediately (W2).
4. In order to avoid evaporation of water in the specimen after being immersed in water, the time between taking the specimen out of the water and completing the weighing should not exceed 2 minutes.
