Rubber friction performance test

Rubber friction performance test-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

The friction performance of rubber is closely related to the traction of tires and the service life of rubber products. The smooth completion of operations such as driving, braking and cornering of a car largely depends on the frictional traction generated between the tire tread and the road surface.
By measuring the friction properties of vulcanized rubber, the friction properties of different formulas can be analyzed and studied, providing a basis for the optimal formula design of tires and other rubber and products, improving the wear resistance and service life of rubber tires and products in my country, and bringing considerable economic and social benefits in terms of saving energy, materials, lubricants, etc.
In order to obtain a good correlation between rubber friction and field application performance, such as the correlation between tire friction and motor vehicle traction and braking force, many rubber products (such as tires, belts) are tested by applying a normal load on a certain plane along a straight distance. The rubber friction performance test describes the test method performed under this test condition.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the reliability performance of various rubbers and provides professional friction performance testing services for rubber.

Scope of tests

1. According to the appearance of rubber: Rubber can be divided into four categories: solid rubber (also called dry rubber), emulsion rubber (referred to as latex), liquid rubber and powder rubber.
2. According to the performance and use of rubber: In addition to natural rubber, synthetic rubber can be divided into general synthetic rubber, semi-universal synthetic rubber, special synthetic rubber and special synthetic rubber.
3. According to the physical form of rubber: rubber can be divided into hard rubber and soft rubber, raw rubber and mixed rubber, etc.
4. According to performance and use: general rubber and special rubber.

Test method

Under a certain normal load, the two test surfaces are combined together. A mechanical device is used to drag one surface across another surface at a certain speed, and the amount of resistance in the process is monitored and recorded. In any case, the ratio of friction to normal load is the corresponding friction coefficient.
Because the test itself changes surface conditions and the temperature of the bonding surfaces, the measured friction coefficient may change during the measurement process.
In an ideal setup, the line of action of the force-measuring device lies in the plane of the two contact surfaces. This plane can be horizontal or vertical.
