Adhesion strength test of vulcanized rubber and steel cord

Adhesion strength test of vulcanized rubber and steel cord-Physical Performance Testing-

Test Background

The bonding performance between steel cord and rubber directly determines the service life of the tire. The bonding performance is usually marked and evaluated by adhesive force and adhesive grade. The adhesion force is the force required to pull the cord out of the rubber compound; the adhesion grade refers to the degree of adhesion on the cord surface after the cord is pulled out of the rubber compound.
The bonding mechanism between steel cord and rubber is generally considered to be that the copper in the brass coating and the sulfur in the rubber compound combine with each other to form copper sulfide at the interface. That is, during vulcanization, the sulfur in the rubber compound not only acts as a cross-linking reaction, but also acts as an adhesion reaction, and tries to make the two reactions reach a balanced state.
Therefore, the vulcanization system in the rubber compound has a very significant impact on the bonding properties of steel cord and rubber. The bonding strength test between vulcanized rubber and steel cords can measure the bonding strength between vulcanized rubber and the steel cords embedded in it.
Zhongke Testing Reliability Experiment Center has the ability to test the reliability performance of various vulcanized rubbers, and provides professional bonding strength testing services for vulcanized rubber and steel cords.

Test method

1. The bonding strength is determined by measuring the force value of pulling out a single steel cord in the axial direction from the rubber sample in which it is embedded. When testing, the fixture used should have round or square test holes to ensure uniform stress.
2. The sample preparation is made by vulcanizing rubber and steel cords embedded in rubber under specified pressure. In Method 1, the outer surfaces of the rubber sides of the specimen need to be appropriately reinforced. In method 2, this reinforcement is not needed.
